  Gallo Twin Valley Chardonnay Winery: Ernest & Julio Gallo Twin Valley Vineyards, Modesto, CA Style: Dry White Year: None Price: typically $9 Rating: 8.5/10 This particular Gallo label, Twin Valley, hosts a collection of "popularly" priced wines similar to Gossamer Bay and Turning Leaf (which also happen to be Gallo products). There is only one Gallo chardonnay priced lower; Livingston Cellars, in a screw cap bottle. So how is this everyday chardonnay? In a word, excellent for a jug wine. With a well-balanced fruit and oak character, it's great during cocktail hour and well suited to just about any fairly light meal afterwards. In fact, if you didn't see the Gallo label, you'd probably ask your host or hostess what wine they were serving. For me this one is up there with Cawarra Semillon/Chardonnay and Woodbridge Sauvignon Blanc...currently my three favorite white jugs. |
